Peacock & Co had the pleasure of being shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Surrey Law Society Legal Awards, awarded at a gala dinner The Mandolay Hotel, Guildford on 16 September. Our first big event in some time!
It was therefore with great pleasure that in the company of Surrey’s most esteemed firms and sole practitioners, we were able to celebrate Ben Pearson as one of four finalists for the SLS Legal Awards Litigation Lawyer of the Year and our Head of Residential Property, Ema Bryn Jones taking home the award for Property Lawyer of the Year.
2020 was a year that significantly challenged the way we all work, affecting legal proceedings at all levels. It is testament to Ben that he was able to have an exceptional year at the firm, becoming partner in June and seeing significant growth across his department. His niche practice in relation to boundary disputes – handling 12 cases of these alone in the past year – saw significant success and made national news.
Ema Bryn Jones – Property Lawyer of the Year
Awarding Ema as Surrey’s Property Lawyer of Year, the judges praised her nimble response to conveyancing challenges through the pandemic. The stamp duty holiday increased demand exponentially and March 2021 saw the busiest period the firm has ever experienced, with Ema acting on 32 completions alone.
Recognised locally as being the best in her field, in the past year clients both in the UK and abroad have praised Ema for being ‘a thorough professional’, ‘super-efficient’ who is ‘responsive at all times’ making ‘conveyancing, as much as it can be, seamless as possible,” – “an absolute credit to her firm and profession.”
Thank you to The Surrey Law Society for a fabulous evening, supporting the work of 21&Co, and to speaker Rob Rinder MBE for holding court in inimitable style.
